Augusta Babe Ruth

President's Message

We had another very successful season this year. The playoffs were very competitive with a couple of upsets thrown in. Damon's, led by Manager Earl Kingsbury, came out of the 7 hole with a 2-10 record and upset the #2 Seed DAV and then followed that up with an upset of the #1 seed, MacPage. They ran into the #4 seed On Target, managed by Shawn Price, and were eliminated in 2 straight games in the best of 3 series. Congratulations to On Target as playoff champs, MacPage as regular season Champs and the other 5 teams and Coaches for a great season.

Thanks to all the Coaches and Players for extending their season a little bit and competing in All-Star competition. Manager Paul Farrin took the 15 year olds out to Readfield and ran into a buzzsaw named Apple Valley. Apple Valley won District 5 quite easily and I think have a very good chance to represent our area in the New England Tournament. Good luck to our friends from the Readfield/Manchester/Winthrop area.

The 13's, managed by Marc Tardiff, had a good run in Skowhegan and made it to the Championship game against a solid Central Maine team. Good job guys on a very respectable 2-2 postseason record.

The 14's, under the helm of Earl Kingsbury, also had a nice run going 2-2 and losing to Central Maine in the Championship game, however, since Central Maine gets an automatic bid to the States as the host team, Augusta will represent District 5. So good luck to you guys in Fairfield starting Thursday June 21 at Lawrence High School, 2:30 start. Bring home some hardware! Please try to get up there and support our team.

Feel free to send in suggestions on how you think we could improve our league next year.

Thanks and have a great summer!
