BABE RUTH LEAGUE
The Augusta Babe Ruth League, in
recognition of Walter H. Golden’s dedication and commitment to baseball, will
be awarding a scholarship to a player planning to continue their education.
The amount of the scholarship will be $200.00 and will be awarded the
first semester of post-secondary study. The
determination of the recipient will be in the last year of participation (age
15) of Babe Ruth baseball by the Selection committee. (See below)
At the time of selection, the recipient
will be given a plaque in honor of their accomplishment, along with a letter
informing them of the scholarship for post-secondary education.
If the recipient does not further their education, the scholarship will
not be given but a $200 Savings Bond will be awarded.
The scholarship or bond will be given at High School Graduation
Ceremonies or Class Day.
The recipient must demonstrate all the
Walter Golden and the Augusta Babe Ruth League stands for and meets the
following requirements:
1.
The player must have participated in a
minimum of two years of Augusta Babe Ruth Baseball.
2.
The player must have demonstrated great sportsmanship on and off
the field.
3.
The player must have demonstrated a love for the game of baseball.
The Selection Committee will consist of:
Umpire-In-Chief.
All 14-15 YO League
Managers. Each manager nominates one
player from their team and one from one other team.
1 player agent.
1 League President.
Of the votes placed, a minimum of 50%
must be met on the player selected.
